new addition

Colin Michael Coogan arrived July 9, 2010 at 6:01 A.M. 9lb 6oz, 22" long, he's a beautiful baby. His parents are delighted, and Matthew is very excited about being a big brother!! We got to spend extra time with Matthew, and it was special (and tiring!).Hopefully I can get someone with more knowledge to post pictures!

DFR

Thanks to all of you who took the time to come & celebrate a wonderful family. It was great to see the kids reconnecting, connecting, and having fun together!! It was good to visit with the adults of all generations, and to have an added time with Ben! Thanks a million to all my helpers- getting ready, and cleaning up- it made it possible for me to have time to visit!
Love you all.

Disappointment

I just want to say how disappointed I (we) are that so many family members are not coming to the Family reunion. It has been planned for a year, with discussion of it beginning in GA long before that. I certainly understand about finances- we have our share of difficulties which are not minor- and we were told that was a problem, we could have discussed alternative plans (sites, etc) to help with that. The children need to get to know each other, just as we all have. I know my children have cherished the relationships they have with you all , which would not have been possible without the reunions. We "elders" have cherished getting to know the younger sets & watching them grow. I know the person for whom the blog is named- and many others who are no longer with us- would be disappointed, as I am. They would also worry, as I do, about the GROWING lack of communication & connection in the family.I greatly appreciate all who will be here, and know it will be a wonderful time for memories & reconnecting. I love you all, but I will not attempt another reunion. The torch is passed to whomever.

musings

It has been way too long since we have been together except for memorial services. There have been many losses since the last reunion, and we need to honor those loved ones, by celebrating them & their lives. They were amazing people, and we all gained by knowing them. We were even luckier to have them as family. Personally, I am feeling somewhat disconnected, and feel voids in my world. Grandma Sue was really the "communications center" for all of us and, despite my efforts at communication, there is a real loss of connectedness & knowing "what's up". We have many additions- of different ages & sizes, and we have missed the growing up of many others. I hope that we can all get together & have a wonderful time in honor of our family. It is an exceptional family:) I love you all. Nancy
